Ancient Wisdom, Modern Tranquility: The Card's Meanings

I will continue to add a new description of a card as recorded on the CD. Thanks for stopping by. Read through each of these qualities and see which ones resonant to you.

Number 14, Art - March 17, 2007

The Art card illustrates that the creative process is a blending of your perceptions, senses, intuition and trust; a synthesis of the opposites, and a manifestation of who you are.

The combining of fire and water creates steam, of man and woman, new life. Internally, it supports your life dream, tempering differences into creative expression
beyond one’s imagination.

Number 13, Death/Rebirth - December 18, 2006

The Death/Rebirth card is that doorway that teaches you to bury old beliefs which create separation, and to forgive yourself and others for any hurt that has happened, intentionally or unintentionally; to learn how not to be attached to the outcome, but to be open to what is in the present.

It is your belief that makes it so ––
And if it is control you want or need
Let it die its death beneath your feet.
For not having your creative freedom is a very slow death indeed.
Bury the old soon, and begin, again, by planting a seed.

Number 12, The Hanged Man - November 22, 2006

The Hanged Man teaches that your hang-ups are self-imposed, and that by surrender and self-reflection you can recognize repetitive patterns that restrict your growth .

What’s keeping you down?
Is it your own self-critic?
Speak well of yourself,
And see what habits you need to amend,
If there has been no harm,
Then toss them to the wind.

Sorry I missed October - October 31, 2006

November is next, and it is interesting that it is The Hanged Man. I got a little hung up in October being busy and having fun with family.

Number 11, Lust - September 30, 2006

This card is sometimes called Strength or Lust, and as a teacher, helps you to have the courage to face and tame the beasts within your own nature, to step out from behind our defenses, and to live life more fully.

When expression of passion and creative fire
Come from inner strength,
And not from manipulation or control,
You have mastered what you know.

Number 10, Wheel of Fortune - August 14, 2006

The Wheel of Fortune shows you how to stay centered while you review the opportunities that come your way by reflecting on these three questions, “Am I being objective, am I being creative, and am I being flexible?”
It is a time for expansion, breakthroughs, and growth.

Watch for what attracts you.
That is the path of spirit,
Like bees to honey.

Number 9, The Hermit - July 30, 2006

The Hermit has much to teach about being comfortable with silence and solitude; that wisdom is within; that there be meaning in what you say, and that the natural slow rhythm of nature is the soul’s rhythm.

The thinking mind stops.
In the stillness of silence,
Nature’s sounds can be heard.

Number 8, Adjustment - June 23, 2006

This next teacher, sometimes called Adjustment or Justice, demonstrates how to make adjustments in your life, that balance comes after experiencing the two extremes, and what is initiated is to be completed. It is also important to weigh the choices before you from a viewpoint of Fairness.

And I can no longer be silent.
I must choose the middle way.

Number 7, The Chariot - May 10, 2006

The Chariot says to base your actions on character and good will and to keep your goals alive. Make the changes that will support your growth, and honor both the need to be quiet and to take action.

Keep moving forward.
The river continues on.
Embrace the changes.

Number 6, The Lovers - April 30, 2006

Meet the Lovers who teach about the polarities in life, that love unites, negativity separates, and that relationships require curiosity, playfulness, loyalty, commitment and spaciousness, and to follow what has heart and meaning for you.

I want to know you
Beyond the end of the trail,
Out where wildness lives.

Number 5, The Hierophant - March 27, 2006

Your spiritual teacher, the Hierophant, instructs you to honor and respect your family, others, your ancestors, and all of nature; guides you to learn from your life experiences, and asks that you trust your own knowledge.

Truth and wisdom exist within,
Take the time to go deeper.
And listen for the learning––
The learning that never ends.

Number 4, The Emperor - February 24, 2006

The Emperor teaches you about leadership, the right use of power, showing up and being present, being accountable for the decisions you make; and using your vision, inspiration and motivation to manifest your ideas.

You are the one
To say what you mean.
It’s not for others to find you.
Speak to be heard and to be seen.

Number 3, The Empress - January 22, 2006

The Empress will guide you in the ways of loving with wisdom, being compassionate, and giving and receiving equally.

You have loved me,
And I am changed.
I give gratitude every day
That you came my way.

Number 2, The High Priestess - December 17, 2005

Your teacher, the High Priestess guides you to trust your intuition, embrace integrity, be loyal, appreciate beauty, and think independently.

Far beyond
What I can see,
Lives intuition
Saying, “Trust me.”

Number 1, The Magician - November 14, 2005

The Magician teaches you to develop your talents, to learn about communication and timing, to take initiative in your life, and to recognize your connection to a power beyond yourself.

You know you are in your creativity
When time gets lost and walks away
And hours seem like moments
At the end of the day.

O - The Fool - October 29, 2005

The Fool begins this discovery of self-understanding and teaches about having the choice to live and learn with curiosity beyond being right or wrong.
This is where we all begin the adventure. The Fool is the choice point of deciding whether you want to learn more about who you are spiritually.

Fear will hold you back.
Welcome, the unknown.
